The Port Alberni Hostel was established to provide
a temporary home for:
- Persons in transit between towns or cities, or tourists.
- Persons needing accommodation while in Port Alberni
for medical attention or hospitalization of family
member.
- Persons during a personal crisis.
- Persons seeking employment in this area.
- Persons in need of temporary assistance.
- Persons needing Room & Board while attending
education facilities.
To many people, including visitors from other places
on this great planet, The Port Alberni Hostel has,
over the years, become a home while they are in transit
to the West Coast. While these visitors are with us,
we make every effort to promote an extended stay in the
Alberni Valley to enjoy, hiking fishing, sightseeing,
etc... The Alberni Valley is known as the Gateway Valley
to the Pacific.
The Port Alberni Hostel offers many services
that we consider comparable to those services offered
by the Hotels and Motels in the Valley, but at a lesser
cost.
The Port Alberni Hostel has fourteen (14) bedrooms,
some with single, double as well as bunk beds. There
is a communal room for watching TV or just socializing
between meals. Perhaps what keeps people coming back
are three nutritious meals prepared and served each day
of the week. Of course, there are also those meals prepared
for special festivities (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter)
to provide a, "at home atmosphere" for these persons
with no other place to go on those days. There is also
a washer and dryer on site for those tenants who wish
to do their laundry.
For the betterment of the Lodge and its' tenants, all
mind altering chemicals (alcohol & non-prescribed
drugs) are not permitted on the premises. This rule is
strictly enforced and the R.C.M.P. are available for
assistance should the circumstance arise.
There is also a small Board Room available that can
seat 10-12 people comfortably and the cost is minimal
depending on whether there are drinks or snacks requested.
