Marilyn McEwen has owned Aperture Overtures since 1989, and continues to devote much of her time to the pursuit of excellence in photography. She is an active member of PPABC (Professional Photographers Association of BC) and PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada).

With a Certificate in Visual Arts, she taught photography courses at two colleges in Vancouver for five years, was Editor and Art Director for a national fine arts photography magazine, "Camera Canada" for two years, and was awarded an Associateship in the National Association for Photographic Art in 1996 for significant service to Canadian photography.

She has judged many national photographic competitions, and has been a speaker at several conferences over the last few years.
