Bamfield Lodge & Sea Otter Charters
A boardwalk starts at the Lodge and runs along Bamfield Inlet. Sightings of bald eagles, blue herons, kingfishers, cormorants, crows, ravens, gulls, loons and a variety of other birds and duck's, are common. Otters, seals, sea lions, sea stars and occasionally a whale can also be seen from the boardwalk, as well as residential flower gardens and boat traffic on the waterway "our main street".
In the right season Bamfield Lodge offers sight seeing for sea birds, seals, sea lions, dolphins, grey whales and killer whales. There are many tidal pools to explore and interpretation with a trained Biologist can be arranged as well as tours to our local Marine Biological Research Centre.
Barkley Sound is home to many varieties of seaweed's that are
harvested and sold here. Oysters, clams, shrimp, prawns, crabs and
mussels abound and go very nicely with a fresh caught salmon,
halibut, ling cod or red snapper.
The Broken Group Islands are a very popular kayaking area. Kayaks, experienced guides and transportation to the islands are available. Brady's beach is just a 20 minute walk from our Lodge, a beautiful sandy beach, many tide pools and sunset heaven. There are other beaches within walking distance as well as trails, including the famous "West Coast Trail".

OTHER LAUNCHES: China Creek Marina 250-723-9812 at 15 min drive from
Port Alberni.LADY ROSE/FRANCIS BARKLEY leaves Port Alberni at 8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday yearly. On Saturdays they go to Kildonan, transportation can be arranged from there to BAMFIELD. The WEST COAST TRAIL EXPRESS (250-477-8700) leaves VICTORIA (and also picks up in Naniamo) daily starting in May until September and goes back to Victoria the same day.
