Tofino and Attractions

ABOUT TOFINO

Formerly an isolated fishing and logging village, Tofino has become a worldwide scenic tourist destination on the waters of Clayoquot Sound.
It boasts renowned restaurants, galleries and a hospital.

Our temperate climate allows year round vacation adventures: whale watching, bear watching, fishing, kayaking, diving, Hot Springs,
Meares’ Island, and float-plane chartered tours are available Spring to Fall, and popular storm watching” during our typically warm and wet Winters.

Just to the South, Pacific Rim National Park offers thirteen miles of Long Beach, forest walks, nature tours and programs in the Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre.  The area also offers surfing, a new skate park, beach combing, bird watching, wilderness hiking, snorkeling, cycling, tennis and a golf course.

WHALE WATCHING

Over 20,000 gray whales migrate past our shores March until May.  Small groups linger, feeding in our
inlets until October.  Chartered tours make close contact with these groups Spring through Fall.
The Pacific Rim Whale Festival begins the season during the last 2 weeks of March.  Tours can be booked in town the day before.

HOT SPRINGS

About one hour northwest by boat, Hot Springs Cove is a completely natural hot springs bubbling from rocky pools, following a 30 minute board walk through the rainforest. Combined hot springs/whalewatching tours take about 6 hours, and are our most recommended tour. A tour can be booked in Tofino the day before.
